Important note regarding disbursement of summer financial aid: Most financial aid listed below is limited to students who are enrolled at least half-time (except private loans). Due to Federal regulations, state statute, and TCU policy summer aid from Federal or state sources cannot be disbursed until a student begins half-time study. This means disbursement of Federal and CAL loan funds will not occur until the summer session that totals at least six hours of cumulative coursework has begun. For example, a student who enrolls in 3 hours for the May session and an additional three hours in a the summer 5-Week 1 session will be eligible for financial aid since the total summer enrollment will be six hours (which is half-time for undergrads). However, this student's financial aid will not be disbursed until the beginning of the 5-Week 1 session since that is when the student will actually begin attending half-time.

- All students needing funding for any summer school term may begin applying for loans in April 2013.
- Please apply for your summer needs ONLY by choosing a loan period of 5/14/13 to 8/03/13 and by limiting your loan amount to the funding you will need for that time period.
- Additional loan applications should be completed for fall and spring costs once the student has received an award letter for those semesters.
- Loan applications that are processed with the same lender and within 90 days of one another will most often result in only one inquiry to the students and/or co-signer's credit. Check with your lender to confirm their credit application policies.
- Some undergraduate students who plan to graduate in August 2013 or December 2013 may receive Stafford loans in summer.
College Access Loan for summer 2013
Texas residents who are enrolled at least half-time for summer 2013 may apply for the College Access Loan (CAL) from the state of Texas. To be eligible, undergrad students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 hours for the summer semester, and have a 2013-2014 FAFSA on file at TCU. Important: If you will be applying for a CAL loan for summer as well as a CAL for fall/spring, you must wait a minimum of 2 weeks between these applications.
The student borrower for the CAL will require a credit-worthy cosigner if the student's credit is not sufficient. Click here to get more information and apply online.
Students also attending full-time in fall and spring of the 2013-2014 may have eligibility for additional CAL funding for those terms. Undergradate students who are eligible for CAL in fall 2013 and spring 2014 will have it included in their financial aid award package.
Please be sure to periodically check "Requested Information" on the financial aid website for any outstanding information needed to process your application. Awards will not disburse until all outstanding documents are submitted.
